Civil War Remembered at Yorktown

Colonial National Historical Park will commemorate Yorktown’s Civil War history this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1.  Special activities at the park’s Yorktown Battlefield unit include troop encampments and military demonstrations.

Saturday and Sunday’s activities feature Union and Confederate artillery, cavalry and infantry living history units demonstrating military tactics and skills on the battlefield near the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center.  Both the Union and Confederate encampments will be located at the visitor center.  These activities will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p. m.

Schedule April 30 and May 1 

9:00 a.m.             Visitor Center opens

10:15 a.m.            Confederate Infantry Demonstration

10:45 a.m.            Confederate Artillery Demonstration

11:15 a.m.              Union Cavalry Demonstration

11:45 a.m.             Union Infantry and Sharpshooters Demonstration

1:45 p.m.              Union Infantry and Sharpshooters Demonstration

2:15 p.m.              Union Cavalry Demonstration

3:15 p.m.              Confederate Infantry Demonstration

3:45 p.m.              Confederate Artillery Demonstration

4:30 p.m.              Encampments close

5:00 p.m.               Visitor Center close
